Brand identity & packaging

Brand identity for small businesses, designed as a system.

A logo on its own works once. A brand identity works everywhere: on your sign, your menu, your box, your website and your Instagram. We design complete identities for Toronto and Canadian businesses, from the logo and colours to the packaging, print and guidelines, and deliver them as files you own.

  • Fixed price agreed before work starts
  • You own every file
What a brand identity is

More than a logo. A set of decisions, written down.

Every project starts with the same core: the marks, the colours, the type and the rules. Packaging, print and signage are added on top, depending on what your business sells.

A logo system

A primary emblem, a monogram for small spaces, a horizontal version, and one-colour and reversed versions for stamps, embroidery and dark backgrounds.

Colour palette

A handful of colours with exact values, so the shade on your website matches the shade on your boxes.

Typography

A pairing of typefaces for headings and text, with notes on when to use which.

Brand guidelines

A short document that writes the rules down, so anyone who designs for you later gets it right.

Sample brands

Six brands, six different worlds.

Each of these is a concept brand for a business we made up, so we could show the level of work without showing a client’s. Every one carries a logo system, a palette, a signage mockup, a business card and an application such as packaging or an interior.

Brand card for Northline Electric, a fictional electrician: logo, colour palette, signage, business card and packaging or interior mockups.
Brand card for Solara Aesthetics, a fictional aesthetics clinic: logo, colour palette, signage, business card and packaging or interior mockups.
Brand card for Ember & Oak, a fictional restaurant: logo, colour palette, signage, business card and packaging or interior mockups.

Packaging, print & signage

The brand, on everything you hand over.

Add the pieces your business actually uses. All print files are delivered print-ready, with bleed, so a printer can work from them straight away.

How a brand project runs

From a conversation to files you own.

Brand projects are quoted, not templated: the price depends on how much you need. The steps are the same every time.

Step 1

Talk it through

A free call about what you sell and who you sell to, then a fixed quote before any work starts.

Step 2

We design the identity

The logo system, colours and type, built for your business and your customers.

Step 3

You review, we refine

You tell us what to change, and we refine it until it’s right.

Step 4

You receive the files

Vector and print-ready files, the palette, the fonts and the guidelines, all yours.

What you end up owning

  • The logo as vector files, plus PNGs for everyday use
  • One-colour and reversed (light-on-dark) versions
  • The palette with exact values for screen and print
  • The typefaces, with a note on how they’re licensed
  • The brand guidelines document
  • Print-ready artwork for everything you commissioned
What comes next

Start with the brand. Everything else follows it.

A brand project stands on its own. If you also need a website or social accounts, both are easier to design once the identity exists.

A website

Custom-coded from your identity, with a free preview before you pay, from $899. See websites

Social media

FAQ

Questions about brand identity.

If yours isn’t here, email hello@websitemill.ca. We reply the same day.

What is a brand identity?

The full set of visual decisions that make a business recognisable: the logo system, colour palette, typography and guidelines, plus how they’re applied to packaging, print, signs and social media.

How much does a brand identity cost?

Brand projects are quoted per project, because a logo and palette is a much smaller job than an identity with packaging, print and signage. We agree a fixed price before any work starts.

Can I get a logo without a website?

Yes. A brand project stands on its own, and it can be done before or alongside a website. If a website follows, it starts from the identity you already have.

What if I already have a logo?

We can work from it: refine it, build the palette, type and guidelines around it, and design packaging and print to match. We only redraw it if you want that.

What files will I receive?

The logo as vector files and PNGs, one-colour and reversed versions, the palette with exact values, the typefaces with licensing notes, the guidelines, and print-ready files for anything you commissioned.

Do you design packaging and labels?

Yes: boxes and lids, bands and seals, product and flavour labels, ingredient and allergen labels, stickers, bag toppers, thank-you cards and tissue paper, all matched to your brand. Food labels have legal requirements in Canada, so confirm the required text before printing and we’ll design around it.

Do I own the finished designs?

Yes. Everything is delivered as files you own.

Tell us about your business.

We’ll talk through what you need and send a fixed quote. If you’d like a website too, we can start with a free preview of that.
